Denim Daze

I have an actual LOOK to post about today. Actually, I have like ten things to blog about today. GAH. So far behind. But for once I don't have too much to say. Long story short, I found this shirt on sale (only $23) at GAP the other day when I was wandering around Wellesley with Aseem and his wonderfully sweet cousins Ayush and Riya who are visiting from India. And so I found this and was super excited about it because I've wanted one of these chambray shirts for a while. I tried the one they have at Madewell but the small was much too baggy and just plain too expensive. But I love this one from GAP because it fits perfectly--loose without being too baggy (I ended up getting an extra small), it's incredibly soft and comfortable, and the wash is kind of a light acid wash that makes it look worn-in. Okay crap that really wasn't a long story short. It was just a long story.

ANYWAYS. This look from last year was my inspiration. I was going for the whole Chloe denim-on-denim kind of thing (I really like the contrast of the different washes) with some silver trinkets and a super-high bun. What do you think... Is this look a success?

This trinket, the stone one, has a particular importance to me. It was given to me by two adorable girls named Yahoska and Nemesis whom I met when I was in Costa Rica on a mission trip with my church. We didn't even speak the same language, and yet my friends and I were able to communicate with these two girls in a way I'm not really sure how to describe... I'm getting all mushy now and breaking out of my satrical tone that I normally do so well here. What I'm getting at is that I'll never see Yahoska or Nemesis again, and we knew that when we met, even if we weren't acutely aware of it. I hesitate to say I'll always remember her because that sounds cliche and stupid and I could get really religious (which normally I'm not?) on you all here because it was a church trip but I'm going to stop now and just say that this amulet... it's special.

This really has nothing to do with anything, but I got this anklet and toe ring as a graduation present and I haven't taken them off since. They're super cute (damn I say super a lot). And it occurred to me, "Why don't I ever decorate my feet?" After all, I wear necklaces and bracelets and rings... But why should my arms and neck and fingers have all the fun? Wearing this anklet-toe ring combo (and this is probably one of those things I shouldn't say because it reveals how truly ignorant I am) makes me feel like a cross between Latika from Slumdog Millionaire when she's all dressed up and dancing, and a beachy surfer chick from the 90's or something. Eh, why not.
